2014 was also the year that I received my new-to-me sewing machine and a new serger - and set up my new sewing space in our living room. The area used to be a third bedroom but the wall was knocked down by the previous owner... aka the perfect sewing space with a big window and a closet, yet open to everything. My sewing output has increased significantly!

I also decided in 2014 to start this blog as an outlet to talk about sewing, my makes, and as a general outlet for a lot of pent up feels about my favorite hobby/lifestyle (it really is a lifestyle!). I've been sewing like mad and reading sewing blogs for a few years now, and I've had a lot of fun in the past few months interacting with fellow seamstresses/seamsters/sewaholics (whatever you like to be called!).
As for 2015 - I deem it the year of challenges/new experiences when it comes to sewing. I'll still be sewing a lot of cake (and frosting), but I'd like to focus more on new-to-me and challenging things. More specifically, I'd like to focus on jackets, pants, and bras.
For me:
More Ginger Jeans (always more Ginger Jeans) - I've made two so far (one from the awesome denim in my denim kit)- so I still need to make one more in the other kit denim, and I'd like to make green, black, and maybe even a print?! I'd also like to try my hand at other types of pants, like maybe the Ultimate Trousers, and even some Maritime Shorts (I'm definitely counting these in the pants category).

coming soon! |
I have the Colette Albion pattern that I'd love to really make into a J. Crew inspired coat. I mean, look at this beautiful coat (below) - I love it, but not the price tag... oof. I also live in Southern California, so I rarely have need for such a thing (save visiting my family in Indiana at Christmas). Talk about icing...

Rigel Bomber January is also happening this month, and I am totally participating - but I don't have the pattern or fabric yet... these are obviously little details...
Bras also aren't something I totally need to make but I love the idea of making my own. I've been loving Tasia and Caroline's posts about bramaking. I think the Watson from Cloth Habit is a perfect place to start!
For Jeremy:
The pants wave is coming for Jeremy too. I already have the Jedediah pattern from Thread Theory for him - I'm thinking khakis and maybe jeans. I'd also like to make him a pair of waxed, flannel lined Jutlands too. He rides a motorcycle to work every day (and likes to go on long weekend rides), and I think these would be great for wet/cooler days.

And finally, one thing I am SUPER excited for this year is Camp Workroom Social in October! I'm taking Jen's patternmaking class, and I AM SO PUMPED! I can't believe it's still 10 months away!
Anyone else have exciting sewing goals/plans for the year?
